Offline AI Translator

Translates text between English and 9 languages using on-device neural translation models (Helsinki-NLP OPUS-MT). Each language pair is a one-time ~110MB download, then works fully offline. Nothing is ever sent to a server.

Choose a language, then type something to load its model.

How it works

Translation runs on Helsinki-NLP's OPUS-MT neural machine translation models, loaded on demand for the specific language pair and direction you pick — English-to-Spanish and Spanish-to-English are two separate models, each a one-time ~110MB download — and then run entirely on-device via transformers.js.

FAQ

Why does switching languages or direction trigger a new download?
Each language pair (English-to-Spanish vs. Spanish-to-English, for example) is a separate trained model, so swapping direction or picking a different language loads a different ~110MB file rather than reusing what's already cached.
How accurate is the translation compared to Google Translate?
It uses a smaller, older architecture (OPUS-MT) than the large models behind commercial translators, so it can lag on idioms, slang, or long or ambiguous sentences, though it handles straightforward text well.
