Color palette generator

Generate a 5-color palette. Click any swatch to copy its hex code.

How it works

Each scheme picks a random base hue and generates hex colors via HSL-to-RGB conversion: complementary uses the base hue and its opposite (+180°), analogous picks five hues spaced 15° apart around the base, triadic uses hues 120° apart, and monochromatic keeps the same hue while varying only lightness — random ignores the base hue entirely and picks five independently random hues, saturations, and lightness values.

FAQ

What's the difference between complementary and triadic?
Complementary pairs a hue with the one directly opposite it on the color wheel (180° apart) for high contrast; triadic spreads three hues evenly around the wheel (120° apart) for a more balanced, varied look.
Why do I get a different palette every time, even on the same scheme?
Because each scheme starts from a randomly chosen base hue — the relationships between colors (the angles apart) stay fixed for a given scheme, but which actual hue family you land on is randomized every time you click generate.
