How it works

Every time you change the amount or either currency, the tool calls a public exchange-rate API for that currency pair and shows the converted amount alongside the per-unit rate and the date the rate was published; picking the same currency on both sides skips the network call entirely and just echoes the amount back.

How often do the exchange rates update?

Daily on weekdays — the rate lookup shows the date it was published, and rates don't refresh over the weekend since the underlying currency markets are closed.

Does this tool see what amount I'm converting?

Unlike most tools on this site, this one does make a network request: the amount and currency codes are sent to a public exchange-rate API to calculate the conversion, since live rates can't be looked up without a server.
