.env File Diff Tool

Compare two .env files key by key — catch drift between staging and production before it bites you. Nothing is ever uploaded.

How it works

Both files are parsed into key/value maps — stripping a leading "export ", trimming whitespace, and unwrapping matching quotes around the value — then the union of both key sets is sorted and each key is classified as added, removed, or changed by a direct comparison of the two parsed values.

FAQ

Does the "Mask values" option still compare the real values behind the scenes?
Yes — masking only changes what's displayed, showing "value differs" instead of the actual before/after strings. Both files are still parsed and compared value-by-value entirely in your browser; nothing about the comparison logic itself changes.
Does it treat KEY="value" and KEY=value as different?
No — surrounding double or single quotes are stripped from each value before comparison, along with a leading "export " on the line. So a value quoted in one file and unquoted in the other, with otherwise identical content, is reported as unchanged.
