Life counter

Life total tracker for Magic: The Gathering, Commander, and other tabletop card games. Pick a starting total and player count.

How it works

Each player's life total lives in a plain array in memory, adjusted by the +1/−1/+5/−5 buttons and displayed in red once life drops to 20% or less of the chosen starting total; picking a new starting total (20/30/40) or player count via the dropdown resets every player back to that starting number, and nothing is saved between page loads.

FAQ

Why did my life totals reset when I changed the player count?
Changing the starting-life preset or the player count both call the same reset function, which rebuilds the whole player list from scratch — there's no separate "add a player mid-game" path that preserves existing totals.
Does refreshing the page save my game?
No — life totals, names, and the extra counter values live only in the page's memory for that session; reloading or closing the tab resets everyone back to the starting total.
