Linux command cheat sheet

Search or filter essential commands for daily sysadmin/DevOps work.

How it works

Typing in the search box filters the full command list in real time by checking whether your text is a substring of either the command or its description (case-insensitive), and the category buttons narrow that same list to one topic (files, permissions, processes, and so on) โ€” the two filters combine, so a search term is applied on top of whatever category is currently selected.

FAQ

Why do ss and netstat both show up for the same task?
Because the list includes both the modern tool and its widely-documented legacy equivalent (like ss vs. netstat, or iptables vs. nft) side by side, since plenty of systems and tutorials still use the older one.
Does the search understand flags or wildcards?
No โ€” it's a plain substring match against the command text and description, not a regex or flag-aware parser, so searching part of a flag like -tulpn works only if that exact text appears in the listed command string.
