Slug generator

Turn a title into a clean URL slug — handles accents, punctuation, and spacing.

How it works

Accented letters are handled with Unicode NFD normalization, which splits a character like "é" into a plain "e" plus a separate combining accent mark, so the accent marks can be stripped away while the base letter survives. Everything left that isn't a letter, digit, space, hyphen, or underscore is removed outright — punctuation like "&" or "!" disappears rather than being spelled out — and then runs of whitespace, hyphens, and underscores collapse into whichever separator you've chosen, with lowercasing applied last if that option is checked.

FAQ

How does it turn 'Café' into 'cafe' instead of dropping the e entirely?
It uses Unicode normalization (NFD) to split each accented character into its base letter plus a separate combining accent mark, then strips only the accent marks — so 'é' becomes 'e' cleanly instead of being deleted as an unrecognized symbol.
What happens to symbols like & or ! in the input?
They're stripped out entirely rather than converted to words — '&' won't become 'and', so 'Rock & Roll' becomes 'rock-roll', not 'rock-and-roll'.
