Paste text, pick a voice, listen. Uses your browser's built-in speech engine — nothing is uploaded.
How it works
Playback uses the browser's built-in Web Speech API (SpeechSynthesis) rather than any server-side voice — the available voices come from speechSynthesis.getVoices(), which some browsers populate asynchronously (handled here via the onvoiceschanged event), and the rate and pitch sliders map directly onto the utterance's own rate and pitch properties.
FAQ
Why is the voice list different, or briefly empty, depending on my browser?
The available voices come entirely from your operating system and browser, not from this page — that's why Chrome, Safari, and Firefox on the same machine can offer different lists, and why some browsers populate the list a moment after the page loads instead of immediately.
Can I download the spoken audio as an MP3 or WAV file?
No — this uses the browser's live SpeechSynthesis API, which plays audio directly rather than producing a file, so there's no built-in way to save the output.
Free, unlimited, no account. If this saved you a paid tool, a small thanks is appreciated.
