YouTube thumbnail downloader
Paste a YouTube video link or ID — get every resolution YouTube publishes for it, ready to open or save.
How it works
After pulling an 11-character video ID out of whatever URL format you paste — full watch links, youtu.be short links, /shorts/, or /embed/ — the tool builds direct links to YouTube's public thumbnail CDN for five standard quality levels and checks each image's real pixel width to hide any resolution that video was never uploaded at.
FAQ
Why do some resolutions disappear after loading?
YouTube doesn't return a 404 for a resolution a video was never uploaded at — it serves a generic 120×90 grey placeholder with an HTTP 200 status, so the tool checks each loaded image's actual pixel width and hides the card if it matches that placeholder size.
Does the maxresdefault thumbnail always exist?
No — YouTube only generates the 1280×720 maxresdefault image for videos uploaded at sufficiently high resolution; older or lower-resolution uploads may only have up to the 480×360 hqdefault size, and this tool simply hides whichever qualities don't exist.
