EffectCraft

A motion graphics and visual effects compositor — compositions, layers, keyframes, 300+ effects, layer styles, expressions, 3D cameras and lights, and a render queue — compiled to WebAssembly from the open-source EffectCraft project. Everything runs on your device; nothing you open is ever uploaded.

Before you click Launch: this loads a ~57MB WebAssembly app (same engine as the native desktop build), so give it a moment on a slow connection. It's also young and moving fast upstream's own words, though already usable — expect rough edges. Works best in a browser with WebGPU or WebGL2.

How it works

EffectCraft's whole engine and UI compile to WebAssembly from the same Rust codebase as the native app, so it's loaded once (on Launch, not on page load) and then runs as a self-contained compositor inside the frame above — compositing, keyframing and rendering never leaves your browser. The GPU path uses WebGPU where available and falls back to WebGL2 automatically.

FAQ

Does my project get uploaded anywhere?
No. EffectCraft runs entirely client-side via WebAssembly — compositing and rendering all happen on your device. There is no server-side storage.
Why is the download so big?
It's a full compositor with 300+ effects, not a small script — about 57MB of WebAssembly, the same engine that powers the native desktop app. It only loads once you click Launch, and your browser caches it after that.
Is this finished software?
No — EffectCraft is young and moving fast, upstream's own words, though already usable. Compositions, layers, keyframes, effects, expressions and 3D cameras/lights work, but it isn't a daily-use After Effects replacement yet.
