🖌️ Layers, masks, real PSD files — 100% in your browser

PhotoCraft

A proper layered image editor — layers, masks, adjustment layers, layer styles, type and brushes, opening and saving real PSD/PSB files — compiled to WebAssembly from the open-source PhotoCraft project. Everything runs on your device; nothing you open is ever uploaded.

Before you click Launch: this loads a ~24MB WebAssembly app (same engine as the native desktop build), so give it a moment on a slow connection. It's also early alpha upstream's own words — most of the basics work, but it isn't a finished Photoshop replacement yet. Works best in a browser with WebGPU or WebGL2.

How it works

PhotoCraft's whole engine and UI compile to WebAssembly from the same Rust codebase as the native app, so it's loaded once (on Launch, not on page load) and then runs as a self-contained editor inside the frame above — opening, editing, and saving a document never leaves your browser. The GPU compositor uses WebGPU where available and falls back to WebGL2 automatically.

FAQ

Does my photo get uploaded anywhere?
No. PhotoCraft runs entirely client-side via WebAssembly — opening, editing and saving all happen on your device. There is no server-side document storage.
Why is the download so big?
It's a full layered image editor, not a small script — about 24MB of WebAssembly, the same engine that powers the native desktop app. It only loads once you click Launch, and your browser caches it after that.
Is this finished software?
No — PhotoCraft is early alpha, upstream's own words. Core editing (layers, masks, adjustment layers, type, real PSD/PSB) works, but it isn't a daily-use Photoshop replacement yet. Expect rough edges.
