Flooring area calculator

Room size + wastage allowance → how much flooring to buy.

—floor area
—area + wastage
—packs needed

How it works

Floor area is simply length times width. The wastage allowance adds a percentage on top to cover cuts, offcuts, and mistakes, and if you enter how much area one pack covers, that adjusted area is divided by the pack coverage and rounded up — you can't buy a fraction of a pack.

FAQ

Why add a wastage allowance at all?
Cuts around doorways, alcoves, and pattern-matching all use more material than the bare floor area — a 10% allowance is a common rule of thumb, but irregular rooms or diagonal layouts may need more.
What if my room isn't a simple rectangle?
Split it into rectangles, calculate each separately, and add the areas together — this calculator handles one rectangle at a time.
