Poker chip calculator

Enter the buy-in and your chip denominations โ€” get the exact chip breakdown per player.

How it works

Denominations are sorted highest to lowest, then a greedy algorithm works out how many of the largest chip fit into the buy-in, subtracts that value, and moves to the next denomination down - all done in cents internally to avoid floating-point rounding errors. Any amount that can't be made exactly with your denominations is reported as leftover rather than silently rounded away.

FAQ

What if my buy-in can't be split evenly into the denominations I entered?
The leftover amount that couldn't be represented is shown separately below the chip breakdown, so you'll know exactly how much to adjust your denominations or buy-in by.
Can I use denominations that aren't whole numbers, like 0.25 or 2.5?
Yes - the calculator works in cents internally specifically to handle decimal denominations like these accurately, without floating-point errors creeping into the counts.
