🕹️ NES through N64 — your files, your browser, never leaves your browser

Retro Game Emulator

Play your own game backups right in the browser. We don't host, provide, link to, or bundle any game files — you load a ROM you already legally own from your own device, and it never leaves your browser (powered by the open-source EmulatorJS project).

How it works

The emulator itself is the open-source EmulatorJS project, loaded from its CDN and pointed at globals like EJS_core and EJS_gameUrl. Your selected ROM is passed straight through as a JavaScript File object — EmulatorJS specifically checks for instanceof File — so it's read and run through WebAssembly locally rather than being uploaded anywhere or turned into a hosted URL first.

FAQ

Does toolcrate.dev provide or host any ROM files?
No — you have to supply your own ROM from a game you legally own; the page only ever loads the emulator core itself from its CDN, never a game file, and nothing about the tool searches for or links to ROMs.
Why do I have to manually pick a system like NES or N64?
EmulatorJS needs to know which emulator core to load, and each console uses a different one — there's no reliable way to detect which system a ROM belongs to from its raw bytes alone, so you select it before launching.
