Appliance running cost calculator
Electric heater, blanket, dehumidifier, heated airer, or anything else — wattage × hours × rate.
Default electricity rate is a rough current UK estimate — swap in your own rate from your bill for an accurate figure.
—per day
—per week
—per month
—per year
How it works
Wattage divided by 1000 gives kilowatts, multiplied by hours used gives kWh consumed, and kWh multiplied by your rate in pence per kWh gives the cost for that period — the week, month, and year figures just scale the daily cost up.
FAQ
- Where do I find my own electricity rate?
- It's on your energy bill or supplier's online account as pence per kWh — the default here is only a rough estimate and real rates vary by supplier, tariff, and region, so swap it in for an accurate figure.
- Why does the preset wattage not match my appliance exactly?
- Presets are typical values for that appliance type — your specific model's wattage is usually printed on a label on the appliance itself or in its manual, and you can type that number straight into the wattage field to override the preset.
