Terraform State File Viewer

Paste a .tfstate file to browse its resources and outputs in readable form, instead of scrolling raw JSON.

⚠ State files frequently contain plaintext secrets (DB passwords, API keys) in resource attributes. This tool processes everything locally — nothing is ever sent anywhere — which is precisely why it's safe to use on a real state file, unlike pasting it into a web-based JSON viewer that isn't explicit about that.

How it works

The pasted .tfstate JSON is parsed entirely in your browser: it reads the top-level resources and outputs arrays, pulls the provider name out of Terraform's provider["registry.../name"] string format with a regex, and shows an output's value in full unless that output is flagged sensitive, in which case the value is replaced with a placeholder even though it's still sitting in the pasted text.

FAQ

Will it show me the values of outputs marked sensitive?
No — an output flagged sensitive in the state file has its value hidden and replaced with '(sensitive — value hidden)' in the table, even though the real value is technically present in the JSON you pasted.
Is it actually safe to paste a real state file into a web page like this?
State files often contain plaintext secrets in resource attributes, which is exactly why this parses everything locally — the pasted text is never sent anywhere, unlike pasting it into a generic online JSON viewer that isn't explicit about that.
